Friday: Sauber in search of the right balance
The Malaysian weekend does not start in the best way for the Swiss team struggling with the balance of its C31. Hard work will be needed to improve the car's performance tomorrow in qualifying as well as for the race.
Kamui Kobayashi – 14th and 14th
« It was the first time we used the 2012 tires in such temperatures and the degradation is quite significant. It probably had an impact but we struggled with the car’s balance today. We need to improve for qualifying and the race but I’m sure we can do it. It’s a shame to have lost so much track time in the second session due to a gearbox problem but these things happen. »
Sergio Perez – 20th and 18th
« It was a difficult day regarding the work on the car settings and getting the right balance. It was better on long runs than on a single lap. We tried to get improvements for the second practice session and we will now look closely at the data. »
