Friday: Williams works for the race
With the changing track conditions, Williams worked on both the aerodynamic and mechanical balance of their car to optimize its settings for the race. The British team, however, acknowledges that there is still work to be done to become competitive in qualifying.
Pastor Maldonado – 15th and 16th:
« It was a bit difficult this morning with the track conditions. We need to improve our setup for qualifying, and I will work on it with my engineers during the evening. We will make some changes overnight, but the car seems stronger in race mode. »
Bruno Senna – Non-participation and 18th:
« It was a productive second free practice session for us. I don’t know the circuit particularly well, so I’m on an upward learning curve, but I’m learning all the time and we will have some improvements tomorrow to help me go faster. »
Valtteri Bottas – 13th and did not participate:
« The track conditions were very tricky today. I have never driven in the rain or on a wet track with a Formula One car, so it was a new experience for me. That said, I enjoyed it: it was a lot of fun. Even though we didn’t drive much, it was important for us to complete a stint on slick tires, which we managed to do at the end of the session. »
