Saturday: Vettel eliminated in Q2 at Red Bull
For the first time in 43 races, Sebastian Vettel failed to qualify for Q3. The German driver ended up in 11th place. His teammate, Mark Webber, didn't fare much better, as the Australian driver will start 6th on the grid tomorrow, proving that the Red Bull is not yet completely up to the level of its rivals.
Mark Webber – 5th and 7th (6th on the grid)
«My lap in Q2 wasn’t bad, but I didn’t manage to do the Q3 lap I would have liked. It’s a bit of a spot with a lap time on Softs, but I would have liked to be a row ahead. The 1m35.7 done in Q2 was a good lap, but maybe I tried to do a little too much in Q3. It’s frustrating. We know we have a good car for the race, so it will be interesting to see how things unfold tomorrow. It’s very close and we will keep pushing.»
Sebastian Vettel – 9th and 11th
There were no issues with the car, but I couldn’t find the last few tenths. I was happy with the laps in Q2, but they weren’t fast enough and I couldn’t qualify for Q3. We have a long race ahead of us tomorrow and the car is good, so our race pace should be better tomorrow. We weren’t fast enough and we have to accept that. We’ll be starting 11th tomorrow and we’ll see what we can do from there.
