Williams wants to continue their points haul in Bahrain

Mark Gillan, the engineer in charge of operations, believes that the Bahrain Grand Prix will be challenging, particularly due to the heat, which forces teams to modify their cars: « One of the main challenges posed by this circuit is the heat, with ambient temperatures generally around 35°C and over 40°C on the track. These conditions force teams to open up the bodywork to cool the engine, which can affect aerodynamic efficiency. »

Heat could also play a role in tire performance according to him: « Pirelli has brought the same tires used in Australia and China, the Mediums and the Softs, and tire management will once again be the main priority.»

Pastor Maldonado believes that the heat should be an ally for the Williams team because he expects his FW34 to be competitive under these conditions: « I like the track layout, and it should suit our car because of the high temperatures. It’s also a challenge for tire wear, so we need to prepare for that. It was very nice to score my first points of the season in China, and I hope to score more in Bahrain. »

Bruno Senna, on his side, believes that the effectiveness of the DRS could play an important role with the straights of the Sakhir circuit: « Bahrain is a circuit that represents a challenge with several straights followed by heavy braking, so the car must be set up differently than on most other circuits. Cars with a strong DRS effect should have an advantage, so it will be interesting to see what the team hierarchy will be. »

The Brazilian driver, who finished in the points in the last two races in Malaysia and China, hopes to continue his momentum in Bahrain: « We have a good momentum after these first three races of the season and hope we can continue this weekend. »

Mark Gillan shares the same opinion as his drivers; the goal will be to score new points: « Having finished with both our cars in the points in China, the whole team hopes to repeat this result in Bahrain this weekend.»
