Friday: Toro Rosso validates the latest developments

In Bahrain, Toro Rosso had two versions of its STR07. This morning, Jean-Eric Vergne drove with the old car, the same one as in Shanghai, while Ricciardo used the latest updates. In the afternoon, both cars used the latest aero package developed by the team from Faenza.

Friday: Toro Rosso validates the latest developments

Daniel Ricciardo – 20th and 11th

« What is important is that we made progress throughout the day. This morning we couldn’t get the tires to work properly. The second session went better, as we can see by the fact that we climbed on the timesheet. I now have a better feeling with the car. We still need to make progress, we have different options to choose from for tomorrow. We have a first impression of the tires, and I would say the soft ones are better and seem to adapt well to the hot conditions. No one will make a single stop on Sunday and managing the rear tires will be the priority. »

Jean-Eric Vergne – 17th and 14th

A busy day for me and my mechanics. We started the day with an old specification of the car based on the one I had in Shanghai, while Daniel had the latest one and it worked well, so I was given it in the afternoon as well. It’s clearly an improvement, and we’ve made a good step forward, even though we still need to improve the balance for tomorrow. If we can make even more progress for FP3, then we’ll be in good shape. The tires overheat easily, so preserving them will be tricky and one of the keys to having a good race.
