Friday: Satisfaction for Pérez at Sauber, less for Kobayashi
Tire management will be one of the keys to having a successful race on Sunday. At Sauber, Kobayashi experienced problems on long stints with both compounds offered by Pirelli, while Sergio Pérez is pleased with how the C31 handles the rear tires.
Kamui Kobayashi – 16th and 7th
« We had no technical incidents, but we struggled with the tire temperature. The short stints with the soft tires didn’t seem bad, but there is still work to be done for qualifying. And more progress is needed on the long stints with both tire compounds. We are analyzing the data, and we’ll see what we can do for tomorrow. »
Sergio Pérez – 11th 10th
« For me, it was a positive day. I’m happy to have had a good Friday and I’m satisfied with the work we did. We learned a lot and we are managing the rear tire degradation, which is a problem for everyone. We still need to fix some setup issues for qualifying, but I’m confident for tomorrow. »
