Saturday: Charles Pic ahead of Glock at Marussia

Charles Pic – 21st and 21st [20th on the grid]:

« It wasn’t an easy day but I’m quite happy with the result. This afternoon it was hot and the degradation of the rubber was perhaps a bit stronger with the rear tires. We seem to have managed that quite well and overall the team did a good job throughout the day, continuing to push forward.

The race will be tough as we will certainly be struggling with the tires, but we are quite economical with them so it improves our chances for tomorrow and now we wait to see.

Timo Glock – 22nd and 23rd:

« It wasn’t a very good Saturday for us. We were still struggling massively with the car’s balance this morning and in qualifying because the rear was too unstable under braking.

In itself, my lap wasn’t bad until I made a huge mistake in turn 13 and I think I lost everything at that spot. I tried to do a lap to cool the tires, but the rear tires were already worn out and we only had one set of soft tires as we were trying to save them for tomorrow’s race.

So it’s not my best qualifying at all and it’s a shame that a fuel supply problem placed us between two HRTs. We need to see what we can do in the race. We saved tires, which is good, but I have concerns about the rear end for tomorrow.
