Fittipaldi sees Button being crowned this year

The 2012 Formula 1 season is one of the most spectacular in many years – both in terms of spectacle and on-track overtaking. This is largely due to the closer field, with very small gaps between the top teams and even some of the mid-field teams.

The tires also play an important role – they degrade faster, and the drivers must therefore manage their rubber as best as possible. Emerson Fittipaldi, double F1 world champion in 1972 and 1974, believes that in this little game, one man could stand out: Jenson Button.

The Brazilian driver knows that Button will have a tough task as there are many other drivers competing at the front, including Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton, and Fernando Alonso, but Fittipaldi believes that the driving style of the 2009 world champion could enable him to secure a second title at the end of this year, 2012.

From what I can see, it will be between Jenson Button and Nico Rosberg. They are the big favorites. Obviously, if Ferrari improves, then Fernando (Alonso) is spectacular. Lewis Hamilton is very aggressive, very fast, but I think Jenson is very clean, easier with his equipment and tires. I think this season suits his style better, Emerson Fittipaldi told Globo.
