Sunday: Rosberg and Schumacher in the points
Even though he started 22nd, Michael Schumacher still managed to finish in the points. The seven-time German world champion secured the 10th place point. After a sluggish start to the Grand Prix, Nico Rosberg climbed up the ranks to eventually finish in 5th place.
Nico Rosberg – 5th
I had a very bad first round today, but then I managed to come back and have a good race. We had a good strategy and the car’s pace was good compared to the start of the season, even though it was difficult to make progress because there are a lot of cars fighting for the same positions.
Overall, I am happy with our weekend because this 5th place gives me a few extra points, and I can see that we are making progress. We now have a short break during which we will work very hard at the factory to be ready for the start of the European season.
But before that, I am eagerly looking forward to attending the first DTM race in Hockenheim next Saturday. It will be the first time I return to Germany after two successful weekends, especially after my victory in China, and I am excited to celebrate this with our fans.
Michael Schumacher – 10th
Considering my starting position today, it was positive to be able to finish in 10th place, score a point, and complete a race held in dry conditions this season. The tires obviously played an important role during today’s race, and in the conditions encountered here, we had to adapt our driving style to conserve our tires.
It will be good to have some time between now and Barcelona to sort out our issues and prepare some new things for the Mugello tests. Next weekend, the DTM starts at Hockenheim, and I am looking forward to attending a DTM race for the first time in 20 years.
