HRT does not rule out changing its name

While the Spanish team HRT has settled into its new Madrid headquarters and hopes to have laid new, more solid foundations for its future, it seems that it is not ruled out that the team, founded by Adrian Campos in 2009, may again change its name in the more or less long term: “We are thinking about it, but no decision has been made about changing the name,” confides Luis Perez Sala to *Autosport*. “For the moment, we are HRT, in the future, we’ll see. There is no plan at the moment, but it is true that we are considering it.”

Signed under the name Campos Meta in 2009, the Spanish team, struggling with chronic financial difficulties, was bought by the Spanish businessman José Ramon Carabantes, who imposed the name Hispania Racing Team in reference to the investment group Hispania. Quickly reduced to its acronym, HRT, the now Madrid-based team dropped any direct reference to Hispania when it was acquired by the investment group Thesan Capital, although the team intends to promote and strengthen the Hispanic identity of the outfit.

But HRT acknowledges for the moment having other priorities, as Luis Pérez-Sala reminds us: « Our goal this year is to try to be reliable and to develop the car with the resources we have. If we manage to slightly reduce the gap, we will be very happy, but we do not want to go backwards. We have some evolutions but we encountered cooling problems and postponed their introduction to solve these issues. It seems they are now resolved. Now, we have a few small evolutions in the program, but others are doing the same. »
