Friday: A productive day for Williams
The Williams drivers have collectively covered more than 120 laps today during the two practice sessions, and they all expressed delight with the behavior of the FW34, even though it is obviously still improvable with a view to tomorrow's qualifying.
Valtteri Bottas – 5th (Free Practice 1)
This was the first track of the year that I already knew, so it was nice for me to be able to focus solely on my driving right from the start. The car seems good, but there are still little things we need to keep working on. Overall, we gathered a lot of data, and it was a productive session, and I really enjoyed it.
Bruno Senna – 18th (Free Practice 2)
«It was a good session this afternoon, and we covered a lot of laps. Now, it’s time to study the data to improve the car’s setup for long runs as well as for tomorrow’s qualifying session.»
Pastor Maldonado – 17th and 13th
We completed the scheduled program today and the tires performed well this afternoon. It helps that we conducted a lot of tests here, but the track conditions are very different from this winter, so we need to spend some time analyzing the data. I remain confident because it’s a circuit that I enjoy.
