Sunday: Big points for Lotus but a bit of disappointment

The Lotus F1 team scored big points thanks to the 3rd and 4th places of Kimi Räikkönen and Romain Grosjean, but the Enstone team was hoping for a bit better. However, the temperature did not favor the performance of the E20, even though the Spanish result remains a great success for Lotus.

Sunday: Big points for Lotus but a bit of disappointment

Kimi Räikkönen – 3rd

I had a very good start and was lucky to overtake on the outside, but we didn’t have enough speed and I hit the limiter in 5th. I’m a bit disappointed because if everything had gone well in the first part of the race, we could have won. There was no problem with the car’s speed, but it’s so tight between all the teams that if you have a small issue, it can cost you. Our car can do it (win), but everything has to be perfect to be able to be on the top step (of the podium). My first stint was good, but I wasn’t fast enough to stay with the cars in front of me. We changed our tires, and it seemed good but we were too far behind. In the end, we would have needed a few more laps to fight for the victory. We are not that far off, and we have made good steps forward so far: the car seems strong everywhere.

Romain Grosjean – 4th

« We lost positions at the start and a part of the front wing too! It was cooler today, which didn’t help us much. Despite that, I am very happy with this 4th place, especially since I missed the third free practice session yesterday. Both of our cars scored good points, which is good for the team. It was quite difficult for me at the beginning of the race because it was hard to get the front working well with the damaged wing, but we made some changes, and in the end, the car was really sensational. I think we made the right decisions today. If we had been told we could finish 3rd and 4th at the start of the weekend, we would have signed up. »
