Sunday: Maldonado couldn’t have found a better gift
As Sir Frank Williams blew out his seventy candles yesterday, Pastor Maldonado couldn't have found a better gift than victory—after reclaiming the pole position on a green carpet—to celebrate the event. Less fortunate, Bruno Senna saw his race cut short after a collision with Michael Schumacher.
Pastor Maldonado – Winner:
« Winning my first race is an incredible feeling. The car handled really well, it was fantastic to drive and our pace was solid all throughout. Alonso gave me a hard time but we managed our tires well and I was able to pull away towards the end. The team has worked so hard all year, and this victory is for them. Being the first Venezuelan to win a Formula One race is a great honor and I hope to win more races in the future. »
Bruno Senna – Retirement:
« Overall, it was a disappointing weekend for me. It was difficult to overtake at the start of the race, and then Schumacher was propelled by his DRS on the straight and hit me. These unlucky weekends happen sometimes, but the positive aspect is that our car showed excellent pace with Pastor’s victory. I’m really happy for him, and it will give the team a big motivation before the next race. »
