Rosberg confident for Canada
Author of a new podium finish in the streets of Monaco, Nico Rosberg believes that his Mercedes should perform well on the fast circuit of Montreal in 15 days.
After four races, Nico Rosberg’s start to the season is quite positive. The German managed to secure his first victory in China and is the one who scored the most points in the last four Grand Prix. These good results allow him to be only 17 points behind Fernando Alonso, the current championship leader.
In Monaco, Rosberg believes he had the best car but overtaking in the Principality is almost mission impossible, so he couldn’t get past Webber even though he kept constant pressure on the Red Bull driver: « It’s great to see how we are improving as a team. In the last four races, I’m the one who has scored the most points, which shows that we are consistent. That’s why the future looks good for us in the upcoming races, » explains Rosberg in a video posted online after the Monaco race.
This consistency could be crucial in the final count as performances are so closely matched this year. With six different winners in the first six races—a first in Formula 1 history—every point counts.
Far from being disappointed about missing the top step of the podium, Nico Rosberg shows a great deal of optimism for the upcoming events. The fast circuits of Canada and Valencia should indeed suit the F1 W03 quite well. “I am looking forward to going to Canada because I think we will have a good car there,” the German declares before adding, “And now my father won’t be able to give me advice anymore since I will have more experience than him, given that I have participated in as many races as he has.”
Nico Rosberg will indeed make his 115th start in 15 days, where his father, Keke, stopped his count at 114.
