Friday: Red Bull was expecting rain

If Samuel Beckett were a Red Bull engineer, he would undoubtedly have written "Waiting for the Rain". With a schedule logically disrupted by the whims of the Quebec sky, the drivers of the Austrian team noticed the absence of rain, even though they had decided to try the super soft tires from the first morning session. The car's performance seems to particularly satisfy Mark Webber.

Friday: Red Bull was expecting rain

Sebastian Vettel – 2nd and 4th

« We ran with the super soft tires this morning thinking there would be rain this afternoon; in the end, it didn’t come, but you can never know in advance. I think we had a good day: we did decent laps, and even with the different approaches when we used the tires, I think we can be happy. Let’s see what we can do tomorrow. It’s a superb track, there are many braking-acceleration phases, chicanes, and quick direction changes, but it’s quite fun: it’s part of the identity of this track, there are bumps, so it’s violent and hard, but it’s fun. »

Mark Webber – 5th and 12th

« It was a very good day. We thought the weather conditions would be more mixed, but that didn’t happen. We ran on the super softs during the first practice session, which we thought was the right thing to do, but ultimately it didn’t really rain during the second session. The program was a bit compromised, but we did what we had to do. We are happy with where we are, and I am confident in the work we’ve done on the car, so I look forward to tomorrow. There are some fast cars here, but we’ve seen that on Fridays before. I look forward to seeing over the whole weekend. »
