Saturday: It was a disaster in Q2 for Williams
The men from Grove had relatively well started their day before experiencing a catastrophic second part of qualifying, marked by an accident involving Pastor Maldonado and changing track conditions that prevented Bruno Senna from hoping for better than 16th place.
Bruno Senna – 14th and 16th:
It seemed promising in Q1 and I managed to complete some good laps, but the track evolution penalized us a bit and there simply wasn’t enough grip in Q2. It’s frustrating to be in 16th position again, but we learned a lot today and I’m sure we will be stronger tomorrow during the race because the car has seemed strong on the long runs all weekend.
Pastor Maldonado – 5th and 17th:
« On my last lap, I simply took too much of the curb and ended up hitting the wall, which is disappointing because I was on a good lap that could have sent me into Q3. The car seemed better this week than what the qualifying suggests, and we have good race pace, so we will have a good chance to gain positions tomorrow.
