Sunday: Mercedes hoped for better in Canada
The Mercedes team hoped for much more than Nico Rosberg's 6th place, but given the performance issues encountered during qualifying, it was complicated to do better. Michael Schumacher experienced another technical problem, this time with his DRS, and had to retire.
Nico Rosberg – 6th
The sixth place is a good result today, and it is important for me and for the team to continue scoring points for the championship to maintain consistency. It was a mixed race, and it was difficult to find a good rhythm, especially at the beginning, but towards the end, the gap with the leaders wasn’t that significant. It could have gone better this weekend, and we simply need a little more performance to fight at the front. However, we are making good progress while improving our understanding of the tires.
Michael Schumacher – Withdrawal
Unfortunately, our weekend in Montreal didn’t go without problems for me, and a hydraulic issue with the DRS forced me to end my race prematurely. At first, I wasn’t sure what the problem was; I missed the corner, went through the grass, and wondered what was happening. Then the team told me about the issue, and I saw it in the mirrors. Obviously, it’s disappointing for all of us, but there’s no question of pointing fingers; it can happen. I know the team is doing its best, and it probably affects them even more than me. We will be back and attacking in Valencia.
