Vettel and Alonso at Ferrari, a possible cohabitation

Stefano Domenicali, the director of Scuderia Ferrari, responded during a joint interview with Bernie Ecclestone given to *Sport Bild* and *Auto Bild* that he could easily see Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso driving at the same time for the Maranello team.

The name of the reigning World Champion has often been mentioned as a possible replacement for Felipe Massa – some media even announcing the signing of a pre-contract for 2014, before Vettel denied the information.

Stefano Domenicali believes that the coexistence between the two world champions could occur without issue: «I think these are two very intelligent people and they could easily coexist together.»

Bernie Ecclestone believes that managing the characters of the two men would not be a problem: «(This cohabitation) would not be a problem: they are both drivers looking for a new challenge and being in the same team would be a new and huge challenge. They could both think they can handle each other because they are confident in themselves and Stefano would do what it takes by treating them equally.»

The head of FOM even has his own idea on how to proceed: “It would be like what I did at Brabham in 1979 with Niki Lauda and Nelson Piquet. I told them: ‘Guys, it’s simple: the fastest among you is the number 1 of the team.'”

The Briton, however, believes that Sebastian Vettel is not yet ready to drive for Ferrari: «I wouldn’t advise him (to join Ferrari), because he’s still too young! Usually, a driver ends their career at Ferrari, so it could happen one day.»
