Saturday: Grosjean again ahead of Räikkönen at Lotus
For once, Romain Grosjean outpaces Kimi Räikkönen in qualifying and confirms that pole position was beyond his reach. The Frenchman will therefore occupy the 4th place on the starting grid, while Kimi Räikkönen is content with his fifth place, even though he believes a better result was possible.
Romain Grosjean – 2nd and 4th:
« I believe we got practically the maximum out of the car today. 4th is a good starting position, but obviously, we’re always looking to do better. Sebastian did an incredible lap and I couldn’t have caught up with him. We’ve improved our performance over one lap, but there’s still room for progress. Tire degradation will be higher than in the last race and we’ll be doing 57 laps in high heat on Sunday. We’ll see what we can do to have a great race. »
Kimi Räikkönen – 3rd and 5th:
« It was really close, especially in Q2. So this 5th place is good to take. The car behaved well. If I could have improved my last lap just a tiny bit, I could have gained one or two places, but it’s already progress compared to last time and I’m very happy with it. We found a few small things in the setup this morning to make the car easier to drive. I’m looking forward to the start of the race tomorrow. Usually, the car is excellent in the race when it’s hot, so we’ll see. »
