Sunday: Disappointment at Sauber despite points
The Sauber team had high hopes for the race, but things didn't go as planned. Kamui Kobayashi didn't see the checkered flag due to two collisions, and although Sergio Pérez managed to finish in the points, the overall outcome is still more than mixed for the Swiss team.
Sergio Pérez – 9th
«It was a difficult race today. We took risks with our strategy and ultimately, the tire degradation was very high. You could say that two points is not such a bad result starting from 15th place on the grid, but the most important thing now is to improve our performance in qualifying. I was 15th on the grid for the second consecutive weekend and there is more to achieve if we can start better positioned on the grid.
Kamui Kobayashi – Retirement
What a race today, however, I am extremely disappointed. I got off to a good start from 7th place. I immediately gained two positions and then overtook Pastor Maldonado in the first lap. I was 4th and it seemed promising. Then during my first pit stop after 14 laps, we had a problem with the front-left wheel. I found myself 11th afterwards and still had a good chance. On lap 20, I was following Kimi Räikkönen, who was overtaking Bruno Senna, and I was on the inside of Senna. I had the wall and nowhere to go, so we made contact. I had to return to the pits to change the front wing. Then, when the race resumed after a safety car intervention, I was battling with Felipe Massa. Our cars made contact and this time the damage was too great to continue.
