Sunday: Hülkenberg misses out on points for Force India
With two laps to go before the checkered flag, Nico Hülkenberg was holding onto ninth place points, but struggling with a car configured for rain. The German succumbed to Senna's attacks and made a mistake trying to regain his position. As for Paul di Resta, a puncture forced him to retire, but he had a chance to play his hand on the dry track.
Nico Hülkenberg – 12th:
« It was a tough race today, especially because the car was rather set up for wet conditions. It helped us yesterday but hurt us in top speed this afternoon. There were cars around me all the time during the race, especially in the last laps when I had to defend against Bruno [Senna] and Jenson [Button], and I couldn’t afford to make the slightest mistake. Unfortunately, I locked the rear in turn 3 with two laps remaining, and it gave Bruno the opportunity to pass me in the DRS zone. It’s frustrating to lose points so close to the end, but my tires were losing performance, and the car wasn’t easy to drive in the last stint. »
Paul di Resta – Retirement:
« I’m not really sure what happened. I just turned into turn 4 and there was no pressure in the right rear tire, so it was clearly a puncture. All I could do was bring the car back to the pits, but there was quite a bit of damage to the floor. I put on new tires and went back out, but I was lacking downforce and went off the track at Becketts. As a result, the team decided to retire. I’m very disappointed because we took the gamble yesterday to use setups for dry conditions and today’s conditions would have been ideal for us.
To end on a positive note, I would like to say a big thank you to the fans who braved the weather and showed us incredible support all week.
