What do Williams and Sauber have in common? Aside from both having been on the podium in 2012, they are also in the crosshairs of Team Force India in the Constructors’ Championship.

With 44 points against 47 for Frank Williams’ team, Vijay Mallya can hope to get the better of the FW34s during the second half of the season. Sauber, on the other hand, still has a slight lead with 60 points: « We are 3 points behind Williams and 16 behind Sauber, so we have good reason to be optimistic for the future, » explains Vijay Mallya.

But since Monaco, the VJM05 has accumulated more points than its two rivals. The battle between these three teams is far from over. Getting on the podium would allow Force India to catch up with the Sauber team, but for that, a bit of luck is needed: « It’s satisfying to see that we are regularly fighting for the top 10, but we need a little bit of luck to get on the podium, » the team boss believes.

Despite a difficult weekend at Silverstone, Mallya remains optimistic knowing that his team’s rivals also didn’t have a trouble-free race: « Our direct competitors did not have much luck either. Sergio Pérez and Pastor Maldonado were well positioned but didn’t score any points. Sauber didn’t increase their lead over us. »

With a particularly tight season at all levels, this kind of weekend without success should not happen too often, and it will again be necessary to be capable of playing in the top 10 on Sunday at the Hockenheim track.
