5 grid penalty for Mark Webber at Hockenheim
Mark Webber will receive a five-place grid penalty for the start of the German Grand Prix, as the Red Bull team was forced to change the gearbox of his car.
After Romain Grosjean and Nico Rosberg, it’s Mark Webber’s turn to change his gearbox at Hockenheim before the limit of 5 regulatory Grand Prix.
The Red Bull team detected a problem with the gearbox used by the Australian driver yesterday and decided to break the curfew imposed by the FIA to analyze the issue. Teams are allowed four jokers, and since Red Bull used its first joker, it will remain without consequence.
It seems that the detected problem could not be resolved, forcing the Austrian team to change the gearbox of Webber’s RB8. The recent winner of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone will therefore receive a five-place penalty on tomorrow’s starting grid at Hockenheim.
