Friday: Back to normal for Marussia
The morning was constructive for the Marussia team. Timo Glock was delighted to find a single-seater whose behavior returned to normal after a tricky German weekend. Charles Pic, on his side, was also satisfied with his car, but the changes made for the afternoon did not work. That, combined with unpredictable weather, resulted in a not very productive session for the Frenchman.
Timo Glock – 22nd and 21st:
The first session went well. With all the changes made since Hockenheim, my car has become ‘like before’, if I can say so. There is still work to be done on the settings to make the car a little faster, but I was quite satisfied at the end of the morning. We will look at the data and make sure everything is as positive as I believe.
Then the weather worsened, and it was very delicate on the track with the Intermediates. The intensity of the moisture was very variable, and it was really strange. Some corners were impossible to negotiate, and I almost lost control at the same spot as Michael (Schumacher), but fortunately, I managed to recover. Now we will analyze all the data and see what we can do tomorrow.
Charles Pic – 20th and 23rd
« We started the weekend well during Free Practice 1 and I was happy with the car. I found the right balance quite quickly. During the break, we made some changes that were supposed to make us go a little faster, but on my out lap this afternoon I felt it wasn’t the right direction to take. It took a bit of time to revert, which deprived us of the opportunity to run with the soft tires due to the weather. The rain was heavier than expected and it didn’t dry as quickly as we hoped. I did a stint with the intermediate tires to prepare for similar conditions for the rest of the weekend. »
