Maldonado wants to win a title with Williams
Pastor Maldonado has admitted that he would like to continue his F1 career with Williams in 2013 and also bring a title to the team before leaving one day.
Despite the support of the Venezuelan oil company PDVSA, Pastor Maldonado does not seem to take for granted his presence in the Williams-Renault team for the 2013 season, as he recently implied. However, he hopes that his performances will allow him to stay at least one more season with the Grove team.
«In F1, you never know what can happen. But I would definitely like to stay here for a good while – at least a year,» said Maldonado, as reported by the news agency EFE.
Maldonado, who secured his first pole position and claimed his first victory this year at the Spanish Grand Prix held at the Circuit de Catalunya, hopes to establish himself as a regular contender for victory – and thereby have the opportunity one day to fight for and win a world championship title.
The native of Maracay would like to achieve this with the Williams-Renault team, as they were the ones who helped him get a foot in the door to reach F1: Before leaving Williams, I would like to win a championship for myself. I would love to be able to win a world championship with this great team that gave me the opportunity to enter F1.
However, if he were not to be confirmed by Williams for 2013, Maldonado is confident about his chances of staying in Formula 1 because there are enough good teams on the grid to bounce back.
