Saturday: Disappointment is the order of the day at Mercedes
Complicated afternoon for the Mercedes AMG team. Nico Rosberg was eliminated in Q1 and will start from 23rd place after his penalty. It's hardly better for Michael Schumacher, who was eliminated in Q2 and will start from 13th place on the grid tomorrow.
Michael Schumacher – 13th and 13th:
« Well, what a shame! I’m really sorry for my fans, but I’m afraid I have to say that I got the most out of what I had today. The car just wasn’t fast enough, especially in the second sector. We now have to take things as they come and try to do our best in the race tomorrow. We have some new things planned for the future, so we’ll be back in the fight. »
Nico Rosberg – 24th and 18th [23rd on the grid]:
« This weekend hasn’t really gone as planned so far. Starting from the back of the grid tomorrow is truly disappointing, even though I had no chance to prepare my car due to the gearbox issue this morning. So it took a bit of time to find the right settings during qualifying, and in the end, it didn’t really work out. I hope I can gain some places during the race, but I’m not really optimistic because our car is not one of the fastest on track. Nevertheless, I will push hard. »
