Maldonado penalized by 10 places in Monza

Pastor Maldonado had a very good start at the beginning of the Belgian Grand Prix this afternoon, but in reality, the reason he had such a good start was because he anticipated it. The Williams driver was under investigation by the stewards and was found guilty of a jump start. He was penalized with a five-place grid penalty for the next Grand Prix, which will take place in Monza next weekend.

The Venezuelan was involved in another incident afterward, a collision with Timo Glock, which forced him to retire at the end of the Kemmel straight with a damaged front wing. Maldonado was deemed responsible for this collision with the Marussia of the German driver and received a second five-place grid penalty for the next Grand Prix.

With these two infractions, he receives a 10-place penalty on the starting grid for the Italian Grand Prix, which will take place next Sunday. The Williams driver will have received three penalties this weekend – with the three-place penalty imposed on Saturday for obstructing Hülkenberg during Q1.
