Red Bull approaches Singapore with confidence

Sebastian Vettel loves the city of Singapore, which is an atypical event for the drivers due to the adopted schedule: « Singapore is a fascinating city to visit and everything seems incredibly clean and tidy. We all stay on European time for the weekend because the race doesn’t start until 8 PM, with most drivers usually getting up around 2 PM – it’s quite unusual. »

Mark Webber is also a fan of the city, particularly because he finds some of his compatriots there in the paddock and in the stands: « I love coming to Singapore, it’s clean and safe. Everyone gets passionately involved in this event, but I also like the fact that we have some Australians coming, especially from the West Coast because it’s easy by plane. It’s quite unique. »

The Australian driver believes that the Marina Bay street circuit should suit the RB8 – as it has suited its predecessors, with the Red Bull team having placed both its drivers on the podium at the Singapore Grand Prix during the last two editions in 2010 and 2011: « We have had some good results in Singapore. It’s a very, very demanding track and one where our car should perform well. We have been strong on city circuits this year, so it gives us confidence that the car should once again be at the forefront. »

Sebastian Vettel thinks he can perform well on a circuit he particularly enjoys: « Singapore is one of the key events on the calendar because the atmosphere of a night race is incredible. I also love this event because the circuit is really enjoyable to drive – partly because it runs counter-clockwise. »
