Saturday: Toro Rosso stops in Q2 relatively satisfied
Even though Daniel Ricciardo believes he could have hoped for a little better than fifteenth place on the starting grid, Toro Rosso drivers are generally satisfied with their qualifications, especially Jean-Eric Vergne, who is in 17th position despite neck pain and a technical and challenging circuit to discover.
Daniel Ricciardo – 13th and 15th:
« In fact, I was happier with my best lap in Q1 than I was with my best lap in Q2, while I was hoping to be a little higher on the grid, maybe in front of the two Saubers. But this position isn’t too bad and, overall, I would say we’re making progress. Certainly, thanks to the work we did overnight, the car was better in Free Practice 3 than it was yesterday, so I hope we can have a good race again tomorrow, on a circuit where anything can happen. »
Jean-Eric Vergne – 17th and 17th:
For a first time in Singapore, I feel I can be satisfied with how the qualifications went today. Since Monza, I’ve been dealing with neck pain and I managed to handle the situation well, so I could manage the curbs and bumps of the circuit.
Finish less than a tenth behind my teammate, who has raced here before, is another reason to be satisfied with my performance, when I think back to being more than a second behind him yesterday.
It’s a long race during which I hope to improve even more, and I really hope that we can make the most of the opportunities that come our way.
