Sunday: Disappointed Hopes for Williams in Singapore
Qualified in second position, Pastor Maldonado retired due to a hydraulic leak while he was in contention for his first points since the Spanish Grand Prix. Having made a strong comeback from 22nd place on the grid, Bruno Senna retired at the very end of the race due to a suspected KERS-related issue.
Bruno Senna – 18th:
« Considering the fact that we encountered a few problems, we had a good race. The first laps were very lively for me, but I was able to make overtakes when I needed to and I had a good pace at the beginning.
It’s one of those races where we knew that if we could finish, we had a good chance of scoring points, but unfortunately, we didn’t finish it. Sixteen laps from the end, I lost the KERS, so it was difficult to defend my position towards the end, but that’s racing.
I’m happy with the race I did today, being able to fight for points starting from 22nd place.
Pastor Maldonado – Retirement:
The day was difficult. Conditions were tough during the race because it was very hot and tire degradation was very high, but we managed well. The start was OK, but I went a bit wide with cold tires, losing a few places, but then we found our rhythm. It seemed solid, as we expected, but then we encountered a hydraulic problem and that was the end of our race.
From now on, I am confident for the upcoming races as we have the potential to fight for victories, and I hope for a better race in Japan.
