Vitaly Petrov in financial difficulties for 2013
Vitaly Petrov, currently a Caterham driver, no longer has financial support, which could complicate his future in Formula 1 according to his manager, Oksana Kosachenko.
Is Vitaly Petrov currently competing in his last Grand Prix in Formula 1? It is not impossible if we are to believe Oksana Kosachenko, the Russian driver’s manager, who explains that discussions for 2013 are currently at a standstill. « We have taken a break, » states Kosachenko to the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.
The reason for this halt in negotiations is quite simple: money. Since his arrival in 2010, Petrov has been well-supported by his country, but that is no longer the case today. « I need time to consolidate our financial options and determine if it’s still worthwhile to continue discussions. If there’s no money, then there’s no seat, » adds the manager of the current Caterham driver’s career.
One thing is certain, however, Oksana Kosachenko is not ready to go on a crusade like last winter to find a seat for her protégé. We remember that after being let go by Lotus Renault GP at the end of 2011, Petrov only reached an agreement with Caterham very late, as Jarno Trulli was present for the first tests of the CT01 in Jerez. “I’m not ready to negotiate all winter like last year,” the driver’s agent confides.
Petrov out of funds, this could favor the arrival of Charles Pic, supported by Lagardère, who has recently been mentioned, among others, for a seat in the team led by Tony Fernandes.
