Friday: Marussia pays the price for the absence of KERS

Just like HRT, Marussia used a new floor in Japan. Timo Glock was tasked with trying out this new aerodynamic element, which satisfied the team, even though the gap with competitors is significant, particularly due to the absence of KERS on the Russian cars.

Friday: Marussia pays the price for the absence of KERS

Timo Glock – 19th and 20th:

« It wasn’t an easy session for us. The car wasn’t performing well on the hard tires. The balance wasn’t good during free practice 1, but we found a better solution during free practice 2. However, it’s still not as good as it should be, and we need to work on the settings. We are a bit behind our opponents due to the KERS. I had the opportunity to follow some cars, but as soon as they use their KERS, it has such an effect here in Japan. We need to see what we can do tomorrow and try to close the gap by finding a way to improve the car both on long runs and in qualifying. »

Charles Pic – 21st and 21st:

« Today was my first time on the Suzuka circuit and I really enjoyed the experience. We completed the full program but we’re not quite where we want to be yet and we were missing a few tenths today. Considering that, it’s positive that the new floor on Timo’s car seems to be working properly, and I’ll benefit from that tomorrow. I’m looking forward to pushing the car and having a better rest of the weekend. »
