Saturday: Points will be the goal at Toro Rosso

The Toro Rosso drivers are pleased with the progress made since the start of the weekend, although the performance of the STR7 is not yet as good as it could be. Daniel Ricciardo enjoyed himself on track and hopes to do the same tomorrow, and perhaps even pick up a few points at the end of the race.

Saturday: Points will be the goal at Toro Rosso

Daniel Ricciardo – 17th and 16th [14th on the grid]:

« Without taking my position on the grid into account, this afternoon’s session was a real pleasure. Driving on this circuit with low fuel and the best tires of the weekend – a new set of softs – is really very enjoyable. Today, it came down to a fight between Jean-Eric and me in Q2 because the others were a bit too far ahead. However, it’s not too discouraging, because the positive point is that we have made progress since yesterday and if we manage to make another step forward for tomorrow, then hopefully we can score some points. »

Jean-Eric Vergne – 14th and 17th [19th on the grid]:

I’m not really happy with my qualifications today because we’ve struggled to find the right balance with the car since the start of the weekend. Regarding qualifying, maybe we went too far in terms of settings and when the balance isn’t right, you lose a lot of time in very fast corners. But hopefully it will be better in the race tomorrow, that’s generally the case. Regarding the incident with Senna, I was catching up with Glock on my fast lap and had to brake accordingly. But I knew I had to let him pass and moved as much as possible to the outside, even though I knew I wouldn’t be in the best position to exit the corner. After that, he slowed down a lot and I had to overtake him again on the straight, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to get a good time.

The grid positions are provisional and may evolve depending on the penalties imposed following the qualifying session.
