Friday: Ferrari is not yet concerned with others

Fernando Alonso – 2nd and 3rd:

« It’s difficult to say where we stand compared to others because we have mainly focused on ourselves. This morning we worked on comparing different ideas related to the car’s setup and in the afternoon we worked on the tires. We have to wait until tomorrow to get a clearer idea of the situation. The track has improved significantly from one session to another, which is a particularly noticeable phenomenon here because there are almost no other races here and this morning it was really dirty. Hopefully, the situation will improve for tomorrow because it’s always more pleasant to drive when the track offers some grip. The most challenging sector is definitely the third one, which is almost exclusively made up of turns. The choice of settings is mainly dictated by the car’s behavior in this third sector, whereas the other two are clearly simpler to manage. »

Felipe Massa – 4th and 6th:

I would say that this weekend has started well, but the important thing is to continue in this direction tomorrow and Sunday when it really counts. Our car seems quite good on this circuit, which is encouraging even though we will only discover the truth tomorrow in qualifying. From what we have seen this afternoon in the second session, the difference between the soft and super-soft tires is very significant. We seem to be comfortable with both, whether with little or a lot of fuel. Now we are going to try to prepare ourselves as best as possible for the qualifying, which should be very tight. There is strong competition, and we will have to do everything perfectly if we want to be able to beat them.
