Kimi Räikkönen is kidnapped by a Finnish sponsor

A few days ago, Kimi Räikkönen created a buzz with a video promising the signing of a contract, this Wednesday, October 17, his thirty-third birthday. Naturally, speculations ran wild, ranging from a contract extension with Lotus in 2013 to the Finnish driver’s return to Ferrari to replace Felipe Massa, or even a move to rally racing.

The website whatwillkimidonext.com, launched on the occasion of the release of this video, now redirects to the website of Makia Clothing, a Finnish ready-to-wear company that defines itself on its Facebook page as a modern but old-fashioned clothing company that reflects the Finnish tradition of simple and clean design.

At the same time, a video appeared on the Makia Clothing YouTube channel showing the Finn as a kidnapping victim and faced with a dreadful blackmail – which we’ll leave as a surprise – to sign his contract. In reality, Kimi Räikkönen has been the ambassador for Makia Clothing since the beginning of the 2012 season, and this viral campaign, which claims to explain how the company “secured” the services of the 2007 world champion, was primarily aimed at presenting a product line called “Makia Racing,” for which the Finn serves as a model in the company’s online store.

A promotional operation that seems to have exceeded the expectations of Makia Clothing as their site is currently inaccessible, likely overwhelmed by requests from the Ice Man’s fans and other curious visitors.
