Saturday: Toro Rosso will aim for points tomorrow
Daniel Ricciardo expressed his satisfaction with his performance during the qualifying for the Indian Grand Prix today, and the Australian driver hopes to be able to fight for points tomorrow. His teammate at Toro Rosso, Jean-Eric Vergne, on the other hand, is disappointed to have been eliminated in Q1 but is determined to climb up the ranks during the race tomorrow.
Daniel Ricciardo – 16th and 15th:
This was a good session for me, and I was happy with my laps, even though my last stint in Q2 was a bit messy, but overall, I pushed hard to find time in the car. I was hoping to be closer to Q3, but considering our pace this morning, we’ve made a small step forward for qualifying. The nature of this circuit forces you to be aggressive. We seem well-positioned for tomorrow as my lap times on softs seem respectable.
Jean-Eric Vergne – 17th and 18th:
Yesterday, Daniel and I tried different settings on our single-seaters and mine weren’t working very well, so we made changes to the car overnight, which means this morning, I was almost starting from scratch. It was complicated to find a good balance on the car so it was difficult for me. I’m disappointed to have missed Q2 by a fraction of a second and I will try to have a good race tomorrow. We have finished in the points starting even further back so why not hope for a few points tomorrow. If you look at Daniel’s performance today, the car is clearly competitive, so I’m looking forward to tomorrow.
