Saturday: Qualifying not very representative of the potential of the Williams
Qualified in ninth and thirteenth positions respectively, Pastor Maldonado and Bruno Senna could have hoped for better if they hadn't made mistakes during their decisive laps. However, the two South Americans are relying on the pace of their cars in long stints to perform better in the race.
Pastor Maldonado – 12th and 9th
« I made a small mistake in the last corner, during my final attempt, which cost me a lot of time, so I don’t think a ninth place reflects our true pace today. We weren’t as fast as we needed to be yesterday, but we worked really hard to understand why and the car was behaving much better today.
We are back in Q3, so there are plenty of positives we can take from today’s session and our race pace seems to be competitive, so I’m optimistic about my chances for tomorrow.
Bruno Senna – 6th and 13th:
« I made a mistake on my lap, which is disappointing because I could have been in the top 10 without it. We showed good pace during the morning practice as well as in Q1, just as we’ve improved in the last races, so things are going in the right direction.
We were strong on our long stints, so hopefully I can gain a few positions tomorrow and get into the points.
