Saturday: Red Bull locks out the front row in India
For the third consecutive Grand Prix, the Red Bull Racing team places both its cars on the front row. Sebastian Vettel secured pole position, 44 thousandths ahead of his teammate, Mark Webber. Both men know that the competition is close, but they remain confident for the race.
Sebastian Vettel – 1st and Pole position:
« The pole is the best place to start from, so I am happy. We had a good qualifying session and a good weekend so far without any problem with the car. My first attempt in Q3 was not good, I was a bit too greedy on the braking at turn 4, but then we had a very good second run and it was enough for the pole. McLaren, Ferrari and Lotus seem competitive in race conditions, so we will see what happens tomorrow – they should attack very hard. »
Mark Webber – 3rd and 2nd:
« It was a good day for us. We worked very hard to ensure we have a good car to be in the best position possible. It was really very, very close with Seb, we each really only had one stint in Q3. Seb made a mistake on his first lap and I didn’t manage to heat the tires well for my second stint, but that’s how it is. Tomorrow, we should have a nice race, I think it will be close between all of us, but it should be enough. It’s a circuit that offers a real challenge with fast chicanes and you have to be very precise at the entry of these turns. »
