Saturday: Force India is not necessarily queen in its realm
Respectively 12th and 16th on the starting grid, the Force India drivers remained relatively discreet on their team's home turf. However, both men hope to score points in the race by relying on strategy and the belief that the VJM05 has not yet been able to show its full potential.
Nico Hülkenberg – 8th and 12th:
We approached the session with Q3 as the objective, so it’s a bit disappointing to miss out. After the first part of qualifying, it was clear that the task would be difficult, but obviously we always try and continue to believe that it’s possible. My lap in Q2 was actually quite good, without mistakes, and it was simply the maximum of our possibilities today. I guess other cars found performance today and that’s why we are behind them.
I am still confident for the race because we saw how close things were today and we were not too far from the top 10. The other good news is that we will be able to choose our tires for the start of the race, so our focus tonight will be to think hard about the strategy.
Paul di Resta – 14th and 16th:
« It’s a big weekend for us but the performance we showed today is not really at the level we wanted it to be. It has been two challenging days and we haven’t been able to optimize the car we had. The car’s balance wasn’t ideal and I didn’t achieve the best possible time during my last attempt in Q2: I made some mistakes and didn’t have the strength or confidence to really attack. So there’s a lot of work to be done before tomorrow’s race and we need to look into this during the evening to see where we can improve. It’s an important day for us and we need to try to make up ground if we want to leave with some points. »
