Sunday: Team Lotus frustrated by their lack of top speed
Qualified in 7th position, Kimi Räikkönen finished the race in 7th after spending most of his time in Felipe Massa's exhaust. The Finn, however, had to settle for seeing the diffuser of the F2012, due to insufficient top speed to overtake. Romain Grosjean, on the other hand, managed to gain a few positions and two points but also suffered from Lotus's setup choices.
Kimi Räikkönen – 7th:
I had a very good car today, but I couldn’t do any better, I couldn’t overtake on the straight. It was disappointing, but that’s how it is. We put ourselves in this situation yesterday with our setup choices for qualifying and we paid for it today. I was fast, but not in the right place, and when you find yourself behind someone, there’s not much to do. I hope that in the next race we will be smarter and that we can use our speed to take more points in the championship.
Romain Grosjean – 9th:
« After starting in 11th position, finishing 9th is good, but I could have done better. We had a very good race, both me and my engineers and the mechanics during the pit stops. We did everything we could, everyone was at 100%. But today, I lacked speed on the straights, which makes overtaking impossible. I attacked every lap, it was almost 90 minutes of qualifying, and I gave it my all to get the best out of the car, so I am very happy. »
