Friday: Balance issues for Kobayashi, everything is fine for Pérez
Within the Sauber F1 team, the day did not unfold in the same way for the two drivers. Indeed, while Sergio Pérez seems rather happy with his C31, this is not the case for Kamui Kobayashi who encountered balance problems.
Sergio Pérez – 16th and 10th:
« For me, it was a good day. We accomplished the entire planned program, so from that point of view, it was very positive. I am happy with the balance of the car and I also think that my position in the second session is about what we are capable of. This means that a spot in Q3 is possible. »
Kamui Kobayashi – 13th and 16th:
« I clearly need to work on improving the car’s balance. At the moment, it’s not there at all, but it’s only our first day in Abu Dhabi. The track’s grip is improving a lot here, which should also help. Today, I really couldn’t get the tires to work. However, on long stints, I didn’t encounter any issues with either the soft or medium tires regarding degradation. »
