Sunday: both HRTs finish in Austin
The two HRT drivers managed to finish the 2012 United States Grand Prix without any major issues, allowing the Spanish team to achieve its objective. Pedro de la Rosa had some trouble with his seat but it didn't stop him from completing the race.
Pedro de la Rosa – 21st:
« It was a positive race overall. The car performed well and the tires worked better than expected after the first day of testing. The start was good and I managed to push with the first set of tires, but I may have gone a bit too far and mid-race, I started experiencing front graining. But we switched to hards after mid-race and everything worked well again. With five laps to go, a part of the carbon seat broke and I was worried about having to retire, but I managed to adapt to my new driving position, and we were able to cross the checkered flag, which was important not only for me but for the entire team. Now, it’s time to look ahead and be ready for Brazil. »
Narain Karthikeyan – 22nd:
The atmosphere here was incredible and it was a good race overall. The temperatures were our weak point on the first day but yesterday things improved and today, we had no problems during the race. The start was clean and our main objective was to finish the race. And we achieved that without any issues and maintained a good pace on both sets of tires. We are now looking forward to the race in Brazil where we hope to do a good job to finish the season on a high note.
