Friday: Williams Drivers Lagging Behind After First Practice Sessions
Pastor Maldonado and Bruno Senna are not completely satisfied with their Williams FW34, but while the Brazilian admits he still has work to do, the Venezuelan is more confident. Valtteri Bottas, on his part, drove to test the 2013 tires and a few parts for next season as well.
Valtteri Bottas – 14th [Free Practice 1]:
« Today was dominated by testing for next year, which involved doing short runs just to gather data. It was interesting to feel the difference with the 2013 tires and we will dive into the analysis of the free practice 1 data. The last run was a bit complicated with traffic but it was nice to discover this track for the first time because it is really enjoyable to drive. »
Bruno Senna – 13th [Free Practice 2]:
« It was a difficult session today because we didn’t gather as much information as we would have liked for tomorrow. We have work to do to understand how to improve things to ensure we are competitive for tomorrow, as the grid is very tight here. It was very hot today, but it was nice to see my fans here, even with sweat in my eyes! »
Pastor Maldonado – 9th and 17th:
« The single-seater seemed good today; we changed our strategy between the two sessions because we were testing many different things, which means we lost a bit of performance this morning. However, I think we will be competitive in qualifying tomorrow. We just need to analyze the data to fine-tune the car, but I am confident for tomorrow. »
