After three underwhelming seasons, the Mercedes team will need to make significant progress in 2013. The arrival of Lewis Hamilton alongside Nico Rosberg should be a boost for the men from Brackley.

Obligation to do better in 2013 for Mercedes

Mercedes will try to forget 2012 as quickly as possible, hoping that the 2013 season will be better and will finally allow the German brand to shine consistently in its own name since its return in 2010. For Ross Brawn, all the ingredients are in place to achieve this: « I hope. We are working very hard to provide our two drivers, Lewis [Hamilton] and Nico [Rosberg] with the opportunity to win and secure poles. It’s our ambition, our goal. It is obviously essential for us to improve. We will try, you never know what others are going to do. I like to think we can do something next year. »

Lewis Hamilton will join the Brackley team after spending six years with McLaren. A new adventure will thus begin for the 2008 World Champion, who knows the task will not be easy. Before the Brazilian Grand Prix, he himself acknowledged that it was probably his last chance to win a race for a while.

« I think Lewis was just keeping a low profile. I’m sure that in his heart he wants to win and be on pole, but he knows there’s work to be done. We are excited about the prospect of working with him. It will be very interesting for all of us. I am convinced that he will be different from Michael [Schumacher], » reports Brawn.

Still under contract with McLaren until the end of the year, Hamilton will only be able to start his collaboration with his new team in January 2013. This allows him time to discover the brand’s next single-seater and to acclimate himself before heading to Spain for the first private tests of the season, which will be held from February 5 at the Jérez circuit.
