Grosjean and Ogier will represent France at the Race of Champions

Romain Grosjean and Sébastien Ogier will team up for the Race of Champions (RoC) taking place from December 14 to 16 in Thailand. The WRC driver, who will return to navigate the 2013 calendar’s special stages behind the wheel of the Polo, won the 2011 edition held in Düsseldorf, Germany. He faced Tom Kristensen, the record holder for victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in the final.

« It’s an honor to participate in the Race of Champions. It was incredible to win on my first attempt last year. There were a lot of new cars to get used to, plus the track, but I attacked all the time and had a lot of fun, » recalls Ogier, who is happy to team up again with the Lotus driver: « This year, it will be nice to team up with Romain again, and we will do our best for Team France to go all the way this time. Overall, it’s a great celebration and a good way to end the season. »

Romain Grosjean also took his first steps in the event last year. “I am proud to be here again alongside so many prestigious names from different motorsport disciplines. It’s a great show to see all these guys drive all these cars to the limit and I hope Team France can achieve something,” says the F1 driver.

The two Frenchmen will have to face, among others, the German duo formed by Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel. Other prestigious names from the motorsport world will be present, such as MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo, Tom Kristensen, Mick Doohan, David Coulthard, and Andy Priaulx.

Since its creation in 1988, the Race of Champions has crowned many French drivers. The most awarded is Didier Auriol with 4 trophies, ahead of Sébastien Loeb who won 3 times, while Sébastien Ogier and François Delecourt each won the event once. In the team standings, France has two victories, tied with Finland but behind Germany with its 5 trophies. France also hosted the event from 2004 to 2006, at the Stade de France.
