Hamilton does not rule out a return to McLaren

In 2013, Lewis Hamilton will bring an end to a long collaboration with McLaren to embark on a new challenge by joining the Mercedes team for a three-season duration. A chapter thus turns in the career of the Englishman, who does not rule out returning one day to the team that allowed him to win his first world title: « You can never say never, and I had good times there. I think it will always be my home. Coming back one day would be nice, but I want to leave and experience other things for now. »

Lewis Hamilton’s 2012 season was not easy. The 2008 World Champion experienced mixed fortunes throughout the championship. He achieved four victories, but each one was followed by a retirement in the next race. Some cynics might say these setbacks are just a foretaste of what awaits him next year at Mercedes, which did not have a particularly satisfying 2012 season overall. However, Hamilton knows what to expect and does not regret his choice. « No, I’m very happy about it [joining Mercedes]. You can’t live with regrets. You have to make decisions and stick to them. It doesn’t matter whether it’s good or not, you just have to do your best, » reports Hamilton.

During the last three seasons, Hamilton has won ten Grand Prix, reached the podium 22 times, and secured nine poles, while Mercedes has only one victory, one pole position, and six podiums. The challenge is significant, but if he manages to meet it, he will emerge even stronger.
