Kubica: A Return to F1 as a Goal

We remember the terrible rally accident of Robert Kubica that put his motorsport career, particularly in Formula 1, on hold. Since this painful episode, the Polish driver has remained discreet about his rehabilitation.

A few weeks ago, the former Lotus-Renault team driver had stated that he was not ready to make his return to Formula 1 in the near future. Now, he seems more optimistic about his chances of achieving this, and he has set himself the goal of reclaiming his place in the discipline: « I still believe I can come back. It’s not just a dream. Currently, I have some difficulties driving a single-seater. But they are less significant than they appear from the outside. »

Robert Kubica insists that his condition is improving day by day, which could suggest other possibilities in the future: « Things are getting better. It wasn’t like this six months ago, and it wasn’t like this three months ago. And thanks to numerous on-track tests, my condition is slowly improving. But there is still a long way to go. »

The Polish driver remains very positive: « If you can’t have what you want, you want the things you have. The most important thing for me is to see that my pace is still there, and I’m sure I could compete again very soon. »

However, she still has a few obstacles to overcome: « The biggest problem still comes from the mobility of my arm and the limited functionality of my fingers. But I am convinced that it will come back slowly. I am sure that it will be… not resolved… but it will no longer be a big problem. »
