Jerez Testing Live – Day 1

The 2013 Formula 1 season comes to life today with the start of private testing in Jerez, Spain. All eleven teams are present for this first private testing session, out of the three sessions scheduled before the Australian Grand Prix, the first race of the year. However, in Jerez, only Williams will not be running with their 2013 car, as the FW35 will only be presented in Barcelona.

After the presentations this morning of the Marussia MR02, with Max Chilton in attendance, and the Caterham CT03, with Charles Pic, Giedo Van der Garde, and Cyril Abiteboul among others present, the first drivers took to the track at 9:00 a.m. for the start of this session, which will conclude tonight at 5:00 p.m., with a break around noon. Nico Hülkenberg, at the wheel of the Sauber C32, was the first to set off for an installation lap. Weather-wise, it’s sunny in Jerez, with a clear blue sky but rather cool temperatures this early morning, 8°C in the air and 9°C on the track.
