Sutil is not interested in a test driver role

The German driver Adrian Sutil, dismissed by Force India at the beginning of 2012, made his return behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car with the Indian team, during the second pre-season tests in Spain, on the Barcelona track, last week.

We know that Vijay Mallya and his team have not yet decided who will support Paul di Resta for the upcoming season. Despite some rumors placing Narain Karthikeyan in the race for the only seat still available, it seems, however, that its allocation is between Sutil and the Frenchman Jules Bianchi.

The German driver believes he did a good job during these tests: « I think I showed today that I was still fast, and that’s the most important thing. Tomorrow I might feel a bit sore, but for now, everything is fine. I’ve kept training over the past months. You never know what might happen. Last year I was waiting for someone to be sidelined, and I would have jumped into the car. I’ve trained a lot, but it’s always different in the car. »

He is now waiting for the team’s decision regarding him. However, he rules out any possibility of being seen as a test driver in /f1/actualite/15011-sutil-estime-avoir-fait-son-boulot.html: « I am a competitor, not a tester. I want to race. Force India is my only opportunity and I’m fighting for it. If it doesn’t work out, I would look into other categories, but I don’t think being a test driver is good for me. I want to race, and I am ready! »
