Barcelona Testing 2 – Day 4: Mercedes Tops Thanks to Rosberg

After Lewis Hamilton yesterday, it’s once again a Mercedes that finishes at the top of the timesheets today in Barcelona. This time, the F1 W04 proved to be the fastest in the hands of Nico Rosberg. The German driver is ahead of Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari and Jenson Button’s McLaren. Following are Nico Hülkenberg, Kimi Räikkönen, Paul di Resta, Pastor Maldonado, Sebastian Vettel, Valtteri Bottas, Charles Pic, Jules Bianchi, Daniel Ricciardo, and Max Chilton.

As yesterday, most teams completed short stints in the morning and longer stints, even race simulations, in the afternoon. However, this was not the case for Team Lotus, which experienced a gearbox problem, reducing Kimi Räikkönen’s track time to only 50 laps. Valtteri Bottas, Pastor Maldonado, and Max Chilton covered even fewer laps than the Finn, but each of them drove only half a day.

At the top of the endurance rankings, we find Jenson Button’s McLaren, the 2009 world champion having completed 122 laps. He is ahead by one lap over Nico Rosberg and by two laps over Fernando Alonso. Following them are Hülkenberg (118 laps), Pic (116 laps), di Resta (112 laps), and Vettel (100 laps).
